Welcome to QuizLite! This is an unassuming quiz presentation tool that can track scoring and organise the flow of the quiz, leaving you to be the energetic host of the show!
Create a quiz with "Create New Quiz" to get started. Once you have, you will be given a quiz code. Keep this safe as you'll need it to host with. Once you're ready to host, click on "Host Quiz" and enter your quiz code to start the lobby. Your screen should show the Room Code that players would need to enter to join the lobby (or join in late if the quiz has already started).
Enjoy your quiz!
The host should be sharing their screen or presenting the quiz somehow. Once they've started their lobby, you should see the Room Code you need to join. Click on "Join Quiz" and enter the room code and your name.
That's it. You're in. Your device will show you your score. Follow the prompts on your device and the host's screen to take part in the quiz.
QuizLite has finally broken out of obscurity, which means that it has now been seen and used at least once by someone I don't personally know. Unfortunately, one particular person has been using this tool to try and peddle their dodgy wares.
Fortunately, some control was already in place to limit abuse:
Quizzes can only be hosted by the person who created the quiz or anyone they share the quiz edit code with.
To host a quiz, you must have the private edit code. Quizzes can never be shared publicly without the quiz code. You can only see the content of a quiz if you have the edit code, or are invited to a quiz and join using the session's room code.
However, as a result of the abuse of this tool, the following extra restrictions have to be added in:
You can no longer embed HTML tags in your questions or descriptions.
I wanted to make this option available at the start because I was foolish enough to hope nobody would abuse this. Unfortunately I've been reminded that you should assume any user is malicious when creating your content.
Quizzes can now be reported for abuse.
Quiz participants can now report abuse on a quiz they are taking part in. If a quiz in session is reported by at least 25% of the participants, then the quiz immediately ends. If a quiz is reported in two sessions, it will be automatically deleted from the site.
